WHAT ARE PRONATION AND OVERPRONATION?

WHAT ARE PRONATION AND OVERPRONATION?

Simply put, pronation is the body's built-in means of absorbing impact.

When you walk or run, your foot naturally rolls slightly inward to lessen the impact that pounding the pavement has on your body. That natural movement is called pronation. When the foot rolls too far inwards, it's called over-pronation. Over-pronation doesn't allow the body to optimally distribute impact, which can increase the chance of injuries—especially stress-related injuries. But wearing the right shoes might help. Over-pronation is common in runners with flat feet.
